VINTAGE REDWOOD & GOLD AMERICAN OPTICAL (AO) SIRMONT combination eyeglasses

This is a stunning pair of American Optical combination frames, first generation ''Sirmont'' model which was introduced in the 1950's.

This is the same AO style worn by Malcolm X and other icons.

The brows and temples are a woodgrain pattern described as redwood and have lustrous dimension.

The bridge and rims are 12kt gold-filled, (heavier / thicker than gold plate).

The gold bridge is marked ''AO GF 22'',
the brow corners are each stamped ''4 C 74'',
right temple reads '' 4 1/4 - 5 1/2" AMERICAN OPTICAL'',
the left temple reads '' 4 1/4 - 5 1/2".

For a vintage pair (over 60 years old) this frame is in excellent condition however as with any vintage item please expect some wear & tear, scuffs. The hardware and Chevrons are all in excellent condition.
There is one imperfection in left union where brow meets frame. There is a cosmetic chip. The integrity of the eyeglasses is not affected, however upon close inspection there is visible chip as noted in pictures.

Please take a close look at all the pictures to get a better idea of the item condition. Please check that the condition and size is right for you before buying; I am happy to answer any questions.

International Buyers – Please Note:

Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.

The existing Rx lenses are very thick. Please see dimensions in pictures.
